The University of St Andrews is home to two theatres; the Barron Theatre, run by volunteers through the Students’ Association, and the Byre Theatre.
The Byre Theatre
With a wonderful selection of student, amateur and professional theatre troupes making their way across the stage each year, the Byre Theatre is a fantastic performing arts venue in St Andrews. From the annual Christmas pantomime which delights families through to large scale productions and musical events — including opera — the Byre offers something for everyone. Also home to a popular cafe and bar, the Byre is the perfect venue for a breakfast meeting or after work drinks.
For more information about the Byre, including upcoming productions, how to book tickets and opening times, take a look at the Byre Theatre website.
The Barron Theatre
A space run entirely by student volunteers, the Barron Theatre is a 54 seat black box studio theatre, with projection facilities and a deep, floor level stage. Each year, a number of performances — ranging from full scale plays to poetry readings – open at the Barron. To find out about upcoming performances at the Barron Theatre and how to hire the space, take a look at the Students’ Association website.
